Safeguarding

SHINE has worked with the NSPCC in developing its policies and practices concerning the safety of children and has completed the “NSPCC Commitment Scheme”, a mark of accreditation within Safeguarding.

SHINE has one Trustee and one Committee member who take specific responsibility for maintaining these standards and work with schools to investigate any concerns raised over the safety of a child. SHINE reviews its Safeguarding Children policy annually. SHINE also has a policy for the use of photographic material of children and parental consent is always obtained. All SHINE events are risk assessed.

All volunteers have a DBS check and undergo Safeguarding training annually.

Volunteers with a concern regarding the safety of a child should contact their Team Leader or Nafisa Ladha (Trustee, Lead for Safeguarding Children).
